Untitled Film Stills

Watched Ovation last night, a channel I'd never seen before with shows on photographers which were great. I saw one on Cindy Sherman and Sally Mann, both photographers I greatly admire, particularly Immediate Family (Sally Mann) and Untitled Film Stills (a haunting collection of B-movie cliches by Cindy Sherman). I'm working on a longer post about it, but I think I need to watch it again. Any photographers you guys particularly admire?

Gale Rainwater's stuff blows me away, as do many of my blog-friends. I think the digital age has helped almost anyone be a photographer (at least to SOME degree.) Unhindered by the limitations of a 12, 24 or 36 shot roll of film, we're now all free to take umpteen shots of a subject, ensuring that at least ONE of the damned things will come out right! *L*

Michelle,

I used to have Ovation until I switched from Dish Network to digital cable. I liked that channel...lots of interesting stuff to see . As far as photographers go, there's a guy named Joshua Hoffine that stes up horrific tableaus involving childhood fears. There's also a Spanish photographer who goes by the name Eccohomo ( I think that's the correct spelling), who's specialty is sort of Goth-erotic , I guess you'd call it.

Hope your Friday is a good one, my dear! Take care!

My tastes in television runs toward Nancy Grace and The Biggest Loser, but, certainly, the greatest photographer ever is Siwer Ohlsson. His seminal work (if you will excuse the expression) in the 70s in such illustrious magazines Oui and Gallery has never been surpassed-- and never will be in this age of crass Internet digital dross.

Brooks...your living room decor is a bit over the top is it not?

Justin Harris and Mike aka Vandamage are two interesting photographers and profilers of Urban Detroit.

Hey Michelle,

I love Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, & W. Eugene Smith. In fact, I'm going to pull my books by them off the shelf and look at them right now.
