And Then There's Maude

Hi readers! Just spent the morning at the ever-exciting emergency room. No worries -- simple flu/sinus infection combo. On a sad note, Bea Arthur died today. I LOVED Maude, loved it and it was an extremely formative television show for me -- brave, funny, and audacious. And one of the few shows that showed an independent woman over forty who was political, funny, and smart and unlike many actresses that age, could still move her face. I miss that kind of programming these days. Rest in peace, Bea!

Producer Norman Lear liked her so much on All in the Family that he gave her the Maude show. Very tall and independent kind of woman, the kind that could easily stand up to the Archie Bunkers of the world. We'll miss her.--Eye on the News

Be well Brooks, you've done enough e-room duty to last for the next decade. My mother was like Maude.

Yes, I was sorry to hear about "Maude." I actually enjoyed that show when I was young.

Glad you are not having anything too serious.

Hey Michelle,
I hope you aren't revisiting the hospital just for the well-known cuisine. :)
Get better soon!

Hi Hon, Bea was a class act, no doubt. You are right! She could purse her lips and pop an eyebrow like nobody's business! Get well, Silly-it's summer!

Oh, I liked Maude, too! Bea A. was cool--I don't think my parents liked her much, though.
