The Lost World
Haven't posted any poetry in some time, so here's the latest. A happy take on a happy subject -- my specialty, right?
The Lost World
I knew them too, the wife that remained loyal
to her husband, a pedophile mortician
who lived next door to us. He’s in prison
now, and she lives alone in the house, she says,
without irony, that love built. All those years
of dealing with dead bodies, violating live ones
and for what? Things are hard for her – not
a widow or divorced. She still visits him, although
it is a long trip, tough to make, even and especially
after all these years. I suppose, it is safe to say, that she, like
everyone else I know, imagined something a little different.

I really liked this poem, Michelle. I'll personally autograph any of my books for you if you want them.
You have such a wonderful way of presenting a side of life that no one really thinks about until they're forced into living it.
And thanks :)
Tim
It is so nerve-burning to try and write poetry on the blog post forms. The lines always want to reform on me, and it drives me batty just rying to get it to do what I want. But you don't have a problem, I'm glad to see.
It's a good poem, Michelle. I hope the rest that you've been writing are this well put together.

Earlier, my grandmother had a heart attack--my siter had told me congestive heart failure and I was a living wreck driving down to Bon Secours. She's alive, at least, but tommorrow she's supposed to get scoped and CT scanned. I can't sleep and I have my doctor's appointment at nine.
I'm glad you're here, Michelle. I just am.
