Amy Winehouse 'Back To Black'

I first heard about Amy Winehouse from my ex-husband who sent me her first cd for my birthday some years ago with a note that said she reminded him of me. I've always liked Amy -- in a world of stars that get by on media persona and fancy voice manipulation, Amy seemed like the real deal. Fantastic voice, check. No competent publicist, check. Out of control drug habit, check. Excellent make-up plus beehive, check. She reminds me of another fantastic soul who died at 27, the great Janis Joplin. Numerolgists put a lot of stock into the age of 27, nine being the highest culmination of the soul. I know she's been dragged through a lot of mud, by herself and others, but I always adored her music. With beehive a little worse for the wear, perhaps I can see the resemblance my ex did. Sadly, I don't have the voice. And the voice is what counts. Rest in peace, dear Amy.

I had not heard anything about her in a long time. I wasn't surprised to see that she had died. It's too bad.

Not surprised either.

Her voice, her persona... she was beautiful in so many ways that went unappreciated by many while she lived.

But as the Africans tell each other for generations, cry at birth, laugh at death. Got a fresh bottle right here. Not sure I need another drink but I'll drink one for her now and hope that it's at least as good as "celebrities to mourn Amy Winehouse on twitter" like I see here on google. Tweet tweet.

Guess she shouldn't have said no, no, no to rehab. What a waste of a life. It's a shame.

i remember seeing her perform live on mtv right before she blew up, maybe 2006 or 2007? the cameras panned the audience and stopped briefly at several of the female artists/singers that were hot at the time...you could actually see the panic on their faces, they knew that this girl singing was the real deal and they all had something to worry about. i guess they don't have to worry anymore?
