Forced Landing
Forced Landing
In my parents' house,
there are a lot of books
about death and disaster
as if they knew what was
coming. Castaway, Adrift,
The Other Life. The titles
say everything even as they
are frayed around the edges,
falling apart, but not going
anywhere soon, just like me.

I do sense a theme in those titles, for sure.
So my mother's name was Stanley Ann. What's wrong with that? Ever heard of a boy named Sue? How do you do.--Barry O.
Dr. Livingston, I presume?--Stanley
Tut, tut, tut, Stanley.--Ollie
Watch out for pianos, Ollie.--Stan
I hope it's not a forced landing.--Ollie
Michelle,
Love the poem. It's interesting, as you point out, how poetry is all around us, in the simple everyday observations, how it draws meaning into our lives, our possessions, our moods.
Interesting observation...
You need to get your butts out of here!!!!!--New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin
"I don't know how someone controlled you...I look at the world and notice it's turning"...George Harrison
I'm sure his guitar weeped in the same way as the book titles did
Beautiful poem
