Compliments

Hi readers! Still recovering from my toe injury -- thanks for all the good thoughts. Going to post a poem today and will be back at you tomorrow.

Compliments

I don’t even like boobs, my friend’s boyfriend said to anyone
who would listen. “What a waste.” She wandered by
in her black push-up gown, not speaking as he poured
more Rum and Coke, more Rum than Coke. I thought
back to my mother’s friend who drank the same thing.
She’d sit in our kitchen for hours and once, looking at me
in my leotard before gymnastics practice, said, “You
have great legs. Too bad your top part doesn’t match.”
She let me sip some of her drink that night, but it
was so sweet that I couldn’t drink enough to enjoy it.
Nothing much changed over the years, but I know enough
to nod and smile when the boyfriend says, “You have
great legs. It’s like something you’d see in a magazine.”
I pretend like I’m drinking what he is, but he’s too drunk
to realize I’ve switched to something with bite, something
that tastes like it could really hurt you if you let it.

Drinking fun suggestion: Joe's Lemonade -- teeny tiny lemonades meant for children, but perfect for adults who like tiny boxes and straws.

Benedictions and Maledictions
Happy Tuesday!

Great ending to this piece.

What really bites hard enough to hurt? Comments on the shell of the human? If that hurts what is it inside the heart that allows such pain? It is good, I thought, that this one, this person of the poetry doesn't let the top feel the pain. The sensitivity to biting is much deeper within her.

You do have great legs, Tiny one. I was too a gymnast--with boobs that got in the way. Who gives a 'eff what anyone thinks of our anatomical pieces? Oh! Just figures that you would be drawn to a "tiny" box of lemondade!! xo

Whiskey woman, I think there was a song about that sometime ago. Something with a bite, sounds like whiskey to me ?

I can't think of a female body part that is not, lets say fun, your friends boyfriend, well he must have been one of types that always had a girl around and never really learned to appreicate one.

A mans most open actions have a secret side to them.
Yes the what if, is always there. It is like I said before, it is what you do or act upon your thoughts, or does this line of openess create to much friction ?

You do work out to stay in shape and it does not go unnoticed. I dare say that you don't have any blind readers on here. I only hope that my compliments are recieved and presented in a respectfull manner
