I Have Had My Fun If I Never Get Well No More

Hey guys -- I'm coming at you late from the Motor City, still sick, but a little more medicated thanks to my wonderful physician's assistant who informed me that if my fever goes any higher, I have to go the hospital. Yay! NOT! All in all, I have a very good p.a. (whom I vastly prefer to the HMO doctor), but man, things have sucked beyond belief for the past couple of days. The good news is that I have a note that says I cannot go to school for a week, just like back in the day. I couldn't drag myself to 7-11, much less teach, so I'm thinking that makes sense. Should have a real blog tomorrow and be totally back at it by the end of the week. Thanks so much for all the sweet well wishes and kind words and notes. You guys are the very best!

Sounds like the lovely flu, which I am fighting off now too!

Luckily for me a regimen of Vicks Vapo-Rub and Walgreen's brand of cold/flu medicine is keeping it at bay... just in time to start my new job tomorrow.

I really hope that you feel better soon.. take the week to truly rest and go back to healthy! The flu season is rough this year and it seems to be hitting everyone all at once.

I'm also sad that I'm missing your class but a job is important in my life right now so some sacrifices had to be made. But I will be back, I promise!

I hope you feel better immediately! I'm currently telling a scratchy feeling in my throat that it doesn't actually exist. I'll Will it out of existence, and if that doesn't work, I'll Henry it.
(?) Well, I hope you relax and take this time to heal~ sometimes it's nice to do.

AW c'mon Michelle I saw you disco dancing at the Blue Goose in your high heels and short skit revving it up to the Bee Gees last night. How much did that doctor's note cost ya to get out of school?

The Warrior Queen can not get sick, she has outlawed it in her land of Tequillaville!

Like Cheri though I am sorry for missing your class as well...maybe if I had registered for it though it might have made a difference in your (mental) health. What a downward spiral me as your student would be.

Peace

get well

A week off from school is a lot better when you're not sick.

Herman Northrop Frye said: In a way, you're lucky. As a full-time union contract teacher, you'll get sick pay. I remember my days as a young adjunct professor of English. I got paid by the hour and if I was sick I didn't get paid. So, naturally, I made sure never to miss a class, sick or not. I don't know how many students I infected due to pure greed. But I made up for it by taking all my sick days when I reached tenured status. Good luck and I wish you a long, healthy and productive career.

I hope you had a good supply of Dr. Pepper laid up for such emergencies.

Hope you get well soon.

My friend and I were recently talking about how technology has become so integrated in our day to day lives. Reading this post makes me think back to that discussion we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as memory gets cheaper, the possibility of copying our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could encounter in my lifetime.
