Cards, Presents, And Cheer

I usually do pictures on Saturday, but I'm working on a big photography project that I will be posting next Saturday. Instead, I'm going to take today to thank my nearest and dearest for Christmas cards and presents and cheer. You guys are the very best! And pose the question to all y'all -- favorite Christmas presents to give or get? Any specific ones that really made you happy?

I won the silent auction at Krogers. It was my Christmas present to me, but it also helped the Ted Lindsay Foundation for Autism. My winning bid got me a photograph of the old Olympia building(where pro hockey started in Detroit) bordered by six pucks signed by hall of famers Alex Delvecchio, Marcel Dionne, Bill Gadsby, Brad Park, et. al.
And another outstanding feature of this x-mas present is that the marquee on the Olympia says: WRESTLING TONIGHT: DICK THE BRUISER VS. ALEX KARRAS. I will proudly hang this sports memorabilia work of art in the parish rectory lobby.

You're an unbelievable hockey nut, Spellman. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Michelle. May God bless you in the holiday season and throughout the coming year. Your blog is my present.

Hey Michelle . . . Sorry I haven't been around in a while - I'm chin deep in holiday trim and wrapping paper and vodka. The vodka acts as a blow up raft for smooth sailing.

My favorite gift to give and especially to shop for are books. When I step through the doors of Borders I am detained in the bargain section. Then, when I look like an overzealous librarian peeking around a stack higher than the top of my head and heavier than my post-holiday weight I ask the front counter to hold onto my finds while I begin shopping the shelves. There is nothing a beautiful as a new book.
Have a blast in the snow tomorrow!

Hi Michelle,
I think that even if money and time were unlimited I still couldn't think of the right gift to give anybody. I'm not a good shopper. As far as getting presents I used to love getting presents from my kids that they either picked out themselves or made for me, especially when they were very young. They'd be so eager to watch me open their present, which could be anything from a can of shaving cream to a box of nails.

Can't really think of any particular Christmas presents at the moment. Usually I got books, which I love and still have, but I don't remember any specifically associated with Christmas.

Favorite to give...always cash or a check that way I don't have to think or go to the mall.

To get...A years worth of friendship from them who are my friends.

Other than that I have nothing I need that I don't already have and nothing I want except a new spine that will let me sleep for more than a few drugged hours.
