Mrs. Bert

There must be something to say about someone who has seven, count 'em, seven bus behavior awards. I don't have that faintest idea as to what it is but there must be someone who does...

She definitely sounds like a hero. Your bus driver. I remember several folks that drove our buses. For the most part I didn't have much interaction with them.

The bus drivers I knew would rather throw you under the bus then take you to your destination. Small acts of kindness have lasting impacts on all of us.

Hi Michelle!

Mrs. Bert sounds like a nice lady. Especially in this "me me me" age we live in, it's nice to have acts of kindness sent our way once in a while.

It's nice to hear your actual voice,too...and you're just as photogenic on video as you are in still photography. :)

Hope your weekend is good! Take care!

I get the papers, but what about the knives?

Too cute Michelle, in that T-shirt with a stubborn baby Grouchie!

Hey Mama, Now I'm really pissed. I rode a bus and behaved like an angel, and NEVER got an award. Although our driver, Louis drove the bus for my Mom, then Me and then Dane. I took a pic of all 4 of us for his retirement party. Oh and, Louis used to say hello and goodbye to each of us by name and handed out Hershey bars regularly. Total unsung hero. xoxo

Oscar the Grouch, Alan Iverson, Flannery O'Connor, the tale of Mrs. Bert and the ever-bewitching Michelle...what more could anyone ask for in a blog-cast?

Aw, how lovely to hear you! What a delightful tribute to Mrs. Bert.

We moved around a lot, so I never really got to know my bus drivers. I was always petrified of them.

So, is there Muppet Flight from the city?! Poor Grouchie.

Thanks for sharing the story. Cool to hear about Grouchy's book, of course. *L*
Mrs. Bert sounds like one of those rare diamonds in the rock pile. I used to be better about sharing my appreciation, albeit anonymously. For example, when I was in Canada I'd buy a tin of hot chocolate for the staff at my local grocery store & stick a little "thank you" note on there. I know they're overworked & underpaid & YOU know what it's like trying to push a shopping cart through snow in freezing winds--can you imagine having to get them ALL gathered out there in the parking lot? A tin of hot chocolate was the LEAST I could do!
I really need to get back into that kind of habit. It definitely lends a warming feel to one's heart.

While my grades were never stellar, I always had good citizenship awards. I've never once gotten a punctuality award.

Wait... did I hear you saw Grouchie likes white flight? Is it because he hates gentrification or is he racist and trying to escape from non-white people?

I hope you do more blogcasts in the future. So nice to hear you from time to time. Maybe next time Grouchie will feel like saying a few words.
I had a lot of bus drivers during my school days and spent about an hour on the bus each way, so there are a lot of memories, mostly of having a headache by the time I got home due to all the brats yelling and screaming. Some of my drivers deserved an award for not strangling any of them to death.
