Not a fan of Pollock or much abstraction for that matter. But *shrug* it too has it's place in the pantheon. Although I do like the statement you quoted of his...explains a lot towards understanding his thinking towards his art.

I've always said that if I wanted an original Pollock I'd paint one myself. He can talk all he wants but it's not that difficult.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I do like abstractions that suggest things, and Pollock's paintings can be dramatic in color and layers. But these drip paintings are just too easy to do.
