Forced Landing

Forced Landing

In my parents' house,
there are a lot of books
about death and disaster
as if they knew what was
coming. Castaway, Adrift,
The Other Life
. The titles
say everything even as they
are frayed around the edges,
falling apart, but not going
anywhere soon, just like me.

  1. I do sense a theme in those titles, for sure.

  7. Michelle,
Love the poem. It's interesting, as you point out, how poetry is all around us, in the simple everyday observations, how it draws meaning into our lives, our possessions, our moods.
